disease where
bacterial processes change carbohydrate like sugar in food left on teeth to acid that demineralises hard
tooth structure. If demineralisation exceeds saliva and other remineralisation like from fluoride, these tissues progressively break down, producing dental caries (cavities, holes in the teeth).
