Corporate Social Responsibility is a management concept whereby companies integrate social and environmental concerns in their business operations and interactions with their stakeholders. CSR is generally understood as being the way through which a company achieves a balance of economic, environmental and social imperatives (“Triple-Bottom-Line- Approach”), while at the same time addressing the expectations of shareholders and stakeholders. In this sense it is important to draw a distinction between CSR, which can be a strategic business management concept, and charity, sponsorship’s or philanthropy. Even though the latter can also make a valuable contribution to poverty reduction, will directly enhance the reputation of a company and strengthen its brand, the concept of CSR clearly goes beyond that.

Corporate Social Responsibility Health Care Programs

Corporate Social Responsibility is a management concept whereby companies integrate social and environmental concerns in their business operations and interactions with their stakeholders. CSR is generally understood as being the way through which a company achieves a balance of economic, environmental and social imperatives (“Triple-Bottom-Line- Approach”), while at the same time addressing the expectations of shareholders and stakeholders. In this sense it is important to draw a distinction between CSR, which can be a strategic business management concept, and charity, sponsorship's or philanthropy. Even though the latter can also make a valuable contribution to poverty reduction, will directly enhance the reputation of a company and strengthen its brand, the concept of CSR clearly goes beyond that.

Corporate Social Responsibility

The Companies Act 2013 states that companies having a net worth of Rs 500 crore or more or a turnover of Rs 1,000 crore or more or a net profit of Rs 5 crore or more during any financial year should have a CSR committee of the board consisting of three or more directors.

CSR first evolved with big manufacturing companies focusing on programmes relating to health, education and sanitation aimed at the local community where the company's factories were located. This was followed by CSR by FMCG companies who embarked on brand-led initiatives like laundry projects or a farm to fork initiative aimed at plugging supply chain inefficiencies. The service sector boom saw the emergence of foundations that focused on a specific area like education, IT literacy with a pan India focus.

School Health Program in Bangalore, India

The School Health Program is defined as “the school procedures that contribute to the maintenance and improvement of the health of pupils and school personnel including health services healthful living and health education”.
Childhood is the age of learning and it is the time when a child start developing practices and attitude towards health. It is very important to target the children for oral health awareness and demonstration of correct methods for oral hygiene.

School is considered as place for learning where children learn not only subjective knowledge but also life style practices and health seeking behaviors.
It has been proven that schools can provide an ideal platform for the promotion of oral health. At the global level, approximately 80% of children attend primary schools and 60% complete at least four years of education, with wide variation between countries and gender. They can be nurtured well for their general and oral health and can very well be implemented effectively.
A health promoting school is one that constantly strengthens its capacity as a healthy setting for living, learning and working.
